Before joining the Trifecta project as a PhD Candidate in November 2023, I received my MSc in Digital Humanities and MA in Philosophy from KU Leuven, Belgium.
Growing into a DHer and computational humanist, I am passionate about using computational tools and methods to answer humanities research questions and also reflecting how computational tools and methods can change the practices of humanities research.
Language changes as society changes. For my PhD project, I am currently focusing on semantic change detection because she wants to look at how a word’s meaning can change in a specific socio-cultural context, and examine the underlying stories of why these changes happen in that specific context.
Before jumping to the field of DH and starting Python programming, I studied ancient Greek and Renaissance philosophy and published several translations as translator. I like to watch old movies, cook, bake terrible cookies, play LEGO, drink tea or wine (not beer), travel to new places with friends, or play with my cat when I am not working. I am a proud foodie. I’ve written a few poems and a prize-winning novel, inspired by Kafka’s The Metamorphosis. I speak Chinese, English, a little bit Dutch and Korean. I also read classical Greek and some French.
